Firewise: Main Information Page

INTERESTED IN OES’S FREE CHIPPING SERVICE?

OES will be providing this service January to March (or till they run out of money for the program).

Read the requirements first –> OES Chipping Requirements

Sign up with GCHNA by filling out this form –> Click Here

Once you have submitted your request, to have chipping done on your property, you will need to fill out this OES Right of Entry (ROE) Form.

You can mail the ROE to GCHNA, PO Box 1343, Nevada City, CA 95959, or deliver it to Joy Elson. It must be printed and filled out by hand (a digital signature is not accepted by OES).

RECOMMENDATIONS

Have you had people do tree work, brush clearing, or landscaping on your property? If you had a good experience, and would like to recommend them to others in our neighborhood, please CLICK HERE to provide the information. Thank you!

Once we have some recommendations to share, we will provide a link here to the list.

A FREE DEFENSIBLE SPACE ADVISORY
IS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR PROPERTY

Our Firewise Committee newest member is Josh Miller, and he is also a CalFire Certified Defensible Space Advisor.

If you are interested in having him visit your property for an advisory/assessment of how fire safe your property is, please CLICK HERE and fill out the request form.

This is a free service. It is not an inspection, but is for your own benefit, and the report is given only to you.

FIRE SAFE MITIGATION EFFORTS BY OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

To continue to qualify as a Firewise Community, each year we are required to report on the ongoing work (time and money) that residents do to reduce wildfire risks.

The due date for submitting
your data for 2026
will be 10/15/26.

Please keep track of your time and money spent making your property fire safe between now and next October, 2026 when your next mitigation form will be due.

You can download and print this form to use as a worksheet.

All residents of our Firewise Community are requested to submit this form, not just active GCHNA members.

Please do not submit any of the forms that have been included in previous newsletters.

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD EVACUATION INFORMATION

Map with Wildfire Emergency Evacuation Route (in red)

About Evacuation Routes

If you live along Cement Hill Road, there is only one Emergency Fire Exit Road, which connects the end of Cement Hill Road with Cedarsong Road, then down to Highway 49. This road is on private property and ONLY to be used in the case of an emergency evacuation situation.

A wildfire is unpredictable – evacuating early is one thing you can control.

Wildfire Emergency
Evacuation Route

Watch to be familiar with the route in the case of an evacuation.

Thank you
to the property owner who is providing
the emergency easement road!
