EMERGENCY NUMBERS FOR CELL PHONES: This is a reminder. At the last 49er Auxillary general meeting, David Ray gave out the numbers again for Emergencies called in on cell phones. He emphasized that these numbers should be used IF you are reporting an ACTUAL FIRE OR ACTUAL NEED OF THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE! These numbers should NOT be used to report a smell of smoke or a non-emergency. In any event, if you are calling 911 or one of the numbers listed below, give the operator/dispatcher your location including the county. The emphasis is from David. He suggested that overuse of these numbers could clog these two systems and render them ineffective. Another important point, these numbers are valid ONLY in Nevada County. Outside the county, use 911.
FIRE (CDF) - 477-5761
OTHER EMERGENCY (SHERIFF'S OFFICE) - 265-7880
